Itching to Get Jelly Bean On Your Galaxy S Device? (AOKP Jelly Bean Releases)

While manufacturers fall further behind on updating devices, development teams like Cyanogenmod and AOKP strive to keep these devices up to date. Paying hundreds of dollars for a device only for it to be dropped a few months later is a real bummer; thankfully custom ROMs breathe new life into older devices as they continue to receive the latest and greatest operating systems. As of last night, AOKP has started to release Jelly Bean builds to the older Galaxy S line as well as newer builds for the current nexus devices.

Some of the older device include the Vibrant, Captivate, Original Galaxy S, and the Nexus S (and the 4G version). While these devices are nearly two years old, they still are running the newer operating systems quite well. Not forgetting the newer Nexus devices, builds are also released for the Galaxy Nexus and the Nexus 7 if you wish to get your hands on some tweaked and customized Jelly Bean goodness. Support for many other devices will be coming in the near future for others who would like to test out some of the newer builds.

Remember that these builds are still very beta and are likely to have many things not working 100%. While the transition from ICS to JB is much easier than GB to ICS, it’s still quite a job. Check out XDA and RootzWiki to get some more information for your specific device before taking the leap and trying out the new builds. If you’re daring, grab the official builds from AndroTransfer through the links below. Be sure to check the MD5 before flashing as auto-builds can sometimes have issues (like the current toro builds on androtransfer, which should be fixed this evening). More devices will be coming in the future, for now though, this is a great start for getting all of our devices up to date. Thanks guys!
